Easter Sunday

$36.00

A family walk on Easter Sunday. My daughter and son were ahead with Pop-pop; I had fallen behind, as always, due to my stopping to photograph one thing (usually a tree) or another (some other tree). I remember lingering longer when entering the field, called to attention by the sweep of hill against sky, and, despite the sun, the patch of snow, not yet disappeared, tucked in the sliver of shadow cast by the small stack of recently felled timber; the larger pile on the horizon beyond.

I didn’t set out to make this set of pictures, or at least, I didn’t conceive to have them line up this way – an exposition on seeing and being – but I know that if I make the pictures, the pictures will eventually make sense of themselves.

That these seemingly unremarkable, fractions of moments, taken together all at once, could speak so clearly, in their way, of what we value, to the expansiveness of existence and our smallness in it, is actually, remarkable.
